Once Upon A Time~

Once upon a time......

All fairy tales seem to start with those four little words.....
Little girls dream of a "once upon a time" life.

It's through innocent eyes and a pure heart,we all as young girls speak of our future prince charming....
Our knight in shining armour.
Our house with the white picket fence....
Our perfect children....
Perfect job.......
Perfect families.

Our "Once upon a time" ~

For most of us, our story book of life, when opened is not the fairy tale we dreamed it would be.
We have had our moments of pure joy....
(Marriage)
Great sadness....
(Divorce)
Ecstatic  times....
(Birth of a child)
Lonely times.....
(Death of a loved one)
Brokenness....
(Addiction)
And restoration...
(Healing)

Our story contains  chapters of pure heartache and failure.....
While some of our chapters do tell of happiness and joy, the world tends to zone in on the ones that speak of our failures....in detail no doubt.

Our eyes are no longer shinning with innocence and our hearts while once pure, are now tainted  and scarred with wounds from the world we live in.

The pages in our book become heavy with shattered dreams, no longer light with fairy dust and twinkling stars.

We allow the author of our book to change to the enemy of our souls.
We come to believe the words he writes.....
The pictures he illustrates...
We buy into his story and lose sight of our fairy tale.
We begin to see our failures written in stone instead on the tablet of God's heart......

In reality we hold the "eraser", "white out" and "correction tape" for our story.......

JESUS!!

God's word tells us,

Hebrews 12:2

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God

Jesus is our author .....
Our "once upon a time"
He is our prince charming....
Our knight and shinning armour.....
He has built our perfect house .....
And He did it all on the cross!!!!!!

It has taken me several years to grasp just how much my daddy God loves me in spite of my down falls in life, however I can say that through it all, no matter what the enemy has tried to write in my book.......
My pages are shiny and crisp....
They are full of love and grace....
They show mercy and compassion....
Most of all, they show Jesus in every sentence and paragraph!!!
And the best news....He continues to write my story!!

It is through telling my story, God's glory shines on every part of my
" once upon a time!!"

My story may not be as the fairy tales read, it is a story of love, brokenness,  redemption, grace, failure and mercy.....

It shows the love of a father that no other love can compare to.....
It shines the light of Christ in every dark place ....
It brings forth the healing touch of my Lord.....

His glory burst onto every page of my life cancelling out everything the enemy has tried to write.

HE is more than my "once upon a time"
He is more just than an author....
He is MY author....

And I.......
 I  am HIS daughter!!!!

I am no longer ashamed for others to read my book, to see all my pages in life.
To not only witness my joy and happiness but......
To see my brokenness....
My failures.....

Mark 16:15

15 And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

God's  instructions were and are "to go and preach the gospel".......
For me, my story is apart of the gospel.
It portrays His supernatural healing....
His divine protection....
His redemption.....
His restoration.....

I chose to tell my story for all to see God in every aspect of my life and to witness His glory, love and grace in it all!!!
He is my author and FINISHER!!!

The Lord is my "once upon a time"

I pray He becomes yours!!!!

  5. Beautiful :)

As a writer, stories can't move forward without conflict. You can't just have pages and pages of 'The sun came out. Everything was hunky dory.' There is no movement, no growth, no arc, no learning. If we think of our lives like a book (written by Jesus), he COULD fill the pages with joy and happiness and sunny days... Then where would the joy be after we completed something difficult we didn't think we could...

Where would be the growth if we never made mistakes...

Where would be the learning if we knew it all?

    Great post!!! :)

Touching The Hem Of His Garment

It's day 6 of my 21 day fast and I have discovered just how much I have relied on social media for my daily encouragement. It's so easy , one click of my mouse and it's there for me to see. A short cut of sorts, a quick fix in a world , my world, that is constantly moving and changing. But when I dig into my daddy Gods word, when I take the time to seek Him, the encouragement is more....So much more. Today I am encouraged by the woman who suffered with the issue of blood. For 12 years she suffered a life of misery and in her culture was considered  unclean. It was a chronic condition which means she probably had anemia as well as  physical weakness. She was hopelessly incurable by the many doctors she had sought out for medical care. She had become destitute for she spent all that she had. Everything and everyone who she would come in contact with would have become ceremonially unclean making her shunned by all in society including her family. Her husband probably

Sifting Before the Shifting

I have been hearing the Lord say " shift" for the last year.  Shift in the atmosphere, shift in our nation, shift in the church, and a shift in me.  When I think about the word shift, I see a grand swope of the hand of God moving all into a direction of peace and wholeness.I believe without a doubt He is doing so, however I never once entertained the though He'd have to do some sifting.... sifting in me. Sifting is a process, a two part process, when sifting wheat. First comes the threshing, the beating of the grain using a flail. Second part is the winnowing, throwing the mixture in the air allowing the wind to blow away the lighter chaffs and the heavier grains to fall back down for recovery.  I take a closer look at this process and begin to meditate on how it applies to my life. The threshing  is the process of removal; removing those things which will cause me to stumble. When God begins to remove, He does so with the intent of replacing; replacing with those

When My Puzzle Pieces Do Not Fit

Putting a puzzle together can be fun, enjoyable and somewhat a relaxing time when the pieces all fit correctly the first time.  However when it is a puzzle with thousands of little pieces that require a great deal of time trying to figure out what piece goes where it can become frustrating, at least for me. Many times I have had to rely on the box top picture to navigate me through the placing of each piece and even that process can be irritating. Eventually the pieces do all fit exactly the way they were created to fit and the perfect picture is formed. It is a victory of sorts for me as patience is not my best quality.  But what about when our life's pieces are not fitting together? I had this certain picture I created in my mind, a picture how my own pieces were to fit together, my perfect box top per say. However the pieces I chose I could not force them to fit. No matter how I placed them, pushed them together, they still would not connect. My box top picture was
