When Desires Overshadow Contentment

Photo Credit: Amy Treasure   If I only had more money in my bank account….   If my house was bigger…… If I had a new car I just know I’d be happy….. If only I could buy that new furniture…….   How many times have we all desired for something more than what we already have?   Our bills are paid, but yet desire more extras than our bank accounts allow. We have a home to lay our heads and somehow find fault in its size. The car is paid off but the smell of a new one entertains our thoughts on a daily bases. And the furniture is a tad old but yet not the latest fashion statement we want to make. There is no wrong in wanting more in life; to be able to upgrade from time to time, take that long awaited vacation or make a brand new purchase for something we have always dreamed of.   The downfall comes when the desires of our flesh become more than the contentment of our hearts; when materials things take presence over our spiritual desires. ...

My Tears Have Purpose

In lieu of my nations recent tragic events and those that have hit my hometown, I find myself in a place of bewilderment. A place where words do no justice to the pain and grief that seems to have swallowed cities, coummities and the nation as a whole in a place of grief that is larger than I could have ever imagined in my lifetime. I do not cry from a place of fear.  Gods words promise me he did not give me a spirit of fear but of love, peace and sound mind. ( 2 Timothy 1:7) My tears come from a place that shelters my hearts deepest emotions for those I know, those I don't and those whose pain is more than they can bare. It is my secret place where my walls fall and my weeping is earth shattering. Where I have no words, my tear stained face is deafening to my soul. My tears have purpose. Psalm 56:8-9 " You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book? When I cry out to You, The...

You Are Worthy...Featuring Kim Stock DeLasalle

Sometimes we get down on ourselves. People will say and do things that hurt, work environments can be difficult or nonexistent. Friends and family can be draining and toxic. Maybe you are in a relationship with someone that makes you feel like you just aren't good enough or they treat you badly.   I'm here to tell you my darling that you are worth more.   God does not make junk. He doesn't make broken people and He doesn't make mistakes.   You were created in His image. Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own imagine; in the imagine of God He created him; male and female He created.   He created you to be uniquely you, for His divine purpose.   Ephesians 2:10  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.   He knew you before you were born. Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed you...

Ringing in 2014 with Purpose

Whew!! What a ride 2013 has been!! It doesn't seem real that the time once again has come to ring in another new year.... But here it is and 2014 is just days away. This year my one word the Lord spoke to me is "purpose" Two years ago it was "endure"..... This past year is was "apply"..... And now for 2014..... "PURPOSE" I endured many changes and lessons in 2012.... I applied many of my lessons in 2013..... So why the word purpose? I ask. This new year I am to purpose in my heart many things.... To continue to love un  conditionally.... To forgive the way my daddy God forgives me daily..... To walk my road without wavier...... To see  beauty through the ashes...... To reach for those who seem to be unreachable.... To extend grace at all times.... Show mercy without a price...... To be a witness and a testimony to those hurting..... To show comfort in the worst of times and joy in the best........

I Planned.....God Prevailed

I don't know about you, but daily planners have never worked for me....... To be honest I would write down my daily tasks and then I would forget my planner at home. Every evening I would jot down my next day activities, place my planner next to my purse and tell my self before falling asleep, "don't forget to grab your planner"...... . And as I would  run out the door the next morning, there on the counter my planner would sit..... Every day without fail. ~Geez~ I planned to bring my planner with me, just as I planned so  many things for my life..... As my planner sat on my counter, so have many of the plans I had for myself. Five years ago I was planning for my "empty nest".... My last child was entering high school and I was planning what I thought would be my life after she was out on her on. Here it is five years later and my life does not resemble any of the plans I had once made....... I went through a divorce......
